This year, the summit will explore the topic of sustainability and resilience. While sustainability and resilience share many similar aspects, the former is focused on balance within and continuation of business operations, while the latter concerns their ability to recover well after an adverse event or incident. Sustainability aims to change the policies and practices to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. Resilience, on the other hand, acknowledges that these effects are already being seen and cities, buildings, and the community need to have the capacity to recover quickly after a natural disaster or extreme weather events.
More than ever, the discussion on Sustainability and Resilience is in the forefront of the various disruptions we are facing, and rest assured that we will seek best ways to come together as a community to identify best practices in these challenging times.
As you may know, the novel coronavirus has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization, bringing many cities to a halt and impacting business at all fronts.
The safety and well-being of our Conference participants is of utmost importance to us. In light of the evolving situation, we have decided to postpone our upcoming 2020 ULI Philippines Conference: The FutuRE Summit to the later date of 30 June 2020.
